Returning your rental vehicle is the final step in your rental experience with VARS Car Rental. We've designed the return process to be quick, easy, and hassle-free. Here's everything you need to know to ensure a smooth return.

What is Vehicle Return?

Vehicle return is the process of bringing back your rented vehicle to our location at the end of your rental period. During this process, our staff will inspect the vehicle, check for any new damage, verify the fuel level, and complete the final paperwork. Once everything is checked and approved, your rental is complete.

Return Locations

You can return your vehicle to any of our convenient locations:

  • Main Office: VARS Car Rental, Zmaja od Bosne 7, Sarajevo 71000 - Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00
  • Airport Return: Sarajevo International Airport - Available 24/7 for your convenience
  • Different Location: If you need to return the vehicle to a different location than pickup, please inform us in advance (additional fees may apply)

Return Time

Important information about return times:

  • On Time: Return the vehicle at the agreed time to avoid additional charges
  • Early Return: You can return the vehicle early, but no refund will be given for unused days
  • Late Return: Late returns may incur additional charges. Contact us immediately if you'll be late
  • Extension: If you need to extend your rental, contact us at least 24 hours before the return time

Return Process

Here's what happens during the return process:

  1. Arrival: Arrive at the return location at the agreed time
  2. Vehicle Inspection: Our staff will inspect the vehicle for any new damage or issues
  3. Fuel Check: The fuel level will be checked. It should match the level at pickup (or you'll be charged for refueling)
  4. Mileage Check: Final mileage will be recorded
  5. Keys Return: Return all vehicle keys and any additional equipment (GPS, child seats, etc.)
  6. Final Bill: Review and pay any additional charges (fuel, damage, extra days, etc.)
  7. Completion: Receive your receipt and the return process is complete!

Fuel Policy

Our fuel policy is simple:

  • Full-to-Full: You receive the vehicle with a full tank and should return it with a full tank
  • Fuel Charges: If you return the vehicle with less fuel than at pickup, you'll be charged for refueling plus a service fee
  • Refueling: You can refuel at any gas station before returning, or we can refuel it for you (charges apply)
  • Fuel Receipt: Keep your fuel receipt as proof if you refuel before returning

Damage Assessment

If there's any new damage to the vehicle:

  • Our staff will document all damage with photos
  • Damage will be assessed according to the rental agreement
  • If you have insurance coverage, it will be applied according to your policy
  • Any charges will be explained and added to your final bill
  • You'll receive a detailed damage report

Helpful Tips

  • Return the vehicle on time to avoid late fees
  • Clean the vehicle before returning (remove personal items and trash)
  • Refuel the vehicle to the same level as at pickup
  • Return all keys and equipment
  • Remove all personal belongings
  • Contact us immediately if you'll be late or need to extend
  • Keep your return receipt for your records
